We need to give you a heads-up.

Everybody at SelectTech, from the president to the person cleaning the bathrooms, has a ridiculous level of commitment to their work.

We’re not describing a toxic work environment, where people are squeezed like tubes of toothpaste until they’re run out and then tossed in a bin. SelectTech is simultaneously a place where employees are treated really well and they work hard as hell.

Maybe it’s a “chicken versus the egg” kind of thing. When you treat people right, they give you their absolute best. Or maybe it’s a virtuous cycle. Or maybe it’s just who we are.

It’s probably all three.

We bring in a lot of new employees who work here for a short amount of time and legitimately say this is the best job that they’ve ever had. Even though we push hard, we treat our employees probably better than most companies would treat their own family. So I’m extremely proud of the culture that we have here. Our culture is top-notch. Professionalism
Not the kind that wears a business suit just to be impressive or speaks down to people to sound important. We mean punctuality, real expertise, exceptional skill sets, listening well, serving clients comprehensively, and communicating clearly and often.

You might work harder than you ever have. You might also be more fulfilled than you’ve ever been. But we can pretty much guarantee you’ve never had a job like this.

What are the requirements for SelectTech employment?

You must, at minimum:

  • Be a U.S. citizen (in compliance with federal contracting requirements)
  • Pass a background check
  • Be able to secure a “Secret” security clearance
  • Pass a drug test
  • Pass employment verification

Additional requirements are subject to the role you’re applying for and the responsibilities it entails.

What are the most important character traits for success at SelectTech?

We operate in a highly competitive market with clients who are (understandably) risk-averse and often focused on modernization. That makes it crucial for our team members to be extremely reliable and solutions-based, forward thinkers.

Cross-functionality is extremely important to our speed and agility, so having a versatile skill set is great. Our sheet metal guy is also a machinist. And sometimes he paints parts. And if the occasion calls for it, he’s a drafter. We all are.

What’s more important than having a bunch of letters or certifications after your name is the willingness to develop a versatile skill set in a supportive environment.

What’s the recruitment process like?

After an initial application review, we’ll schedule one or more interviews with you. You might meet with the hiring manager, potential team members and an HR representative. Then you’ll have to walk on hot coals while reciting safety rules. (Just kidding on the last one.)
